FaerieCon is proud to bring you, for the first time in America, the ethereal sylvan music of Hungary’s The Moon and The Nightspirit!
Brought to life in 2003, the Hungarian entity known as The Moon and the Nightspirit has been since been crafting a distinct artistic signature, reflected not only in their music but also in the unique visual universe that illustrates their work.
Agnes, a skilled singer and multi-instrumentalist, is also the talented lady responsible for the paintings which bring to The Moon and the Nightspirit’s music a fantasy setting populated by creatures that trace back to ancient legends and folklore. These memories of times forgotten also echo through the lyrics written by guitarist Mihaly, which outline the spiritual mindset behind the project.
World-renowned fantasy artist Jasmine Beckett-Griffith returns to FaerieCon to share the charming and mischievously magical worlds found in her paintings.
“Jasmine’s art teases the boundaries of cute and creepy with her character’s large winsome eyes, adorable costumes and edgy subject matter. You just want to snuggle them, though you might get bitten if you do.” – Amy Brown
Jasmine Becket-Griffith is a world-renowned fantasy artist. Born in 1979, she has spent the last decade (all of her adult life) working as a fine artist, painting traditionally by hand with acrylic paints. Her artwork can be found in private collections and public displays throughout the world. You may recognize her paintings from her merchandising and licensing lines with Disney, Hot Topic, Target, Spencer’s, the Hamilton Collection and the Bradford Exchange. Her artwork is also found in many books such as the Spectrum fine art collections, Gothic Art Now, The World of Faery, Big Eye Art, and more! Jasmine’s paintings blend realism with wide-eyed wonder – exploring gothic themes, with elements of classical literature, fairytales, nature and fantasy.

FaerieCon East is excited to welcome Aprilynne Pike, author of the bestselling “Wings”, and its sequels, “Illusions,” and “Destined.”
“I am proudest of the fact that I can honestly tell people that they have never seen faeries like my faeries. My faerie mythos came first with this series.” – Aprilynne Pike
Critically acclaimed, internationally best-selling author Aprilynne Pike has been spinning tales since she was a child with a hyper-active imagination. At the age of twenty she received her BA in Creative Writing from Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. When not writing, Aprilynne can usually be found out running; she also enjoys singing, acting, reading, and working with pregnant moms as a childbirth educator and doula. Aprilynne lives in Arizona with her husband and four kids; she is enjoying the sunshine.
“My brain has always been a well of strange — and often very strange — ideas. I can’t really say that I know where they come from. But I think one thing that helps is that I am always pondering, “what if.” Often about simple things like, “What if I had worded that question differently?” Or, “What if I had turned around two seconds earlier.” But sometimes it wanders more. “What if that guy really wasn’t human; what if the love of her life had to kill her.” Constantly juggling “what-ifs” leads to all kinds of fantastical answers and every answer can be developed into a story.” – Aprilynne Pike

Singer, songwriter, and strowler extraordinaire, SJ Tucker returns to FaerieCon to enchant us with her unique brand of mythic music!
“She’s got Dar [Williams]‘s sardonic sincerity coupled with [Ani] DiFranco’s passion, Janis Ian’s vocal chops, and the deft guitar hands of Emily Saliers. Her lyrics swell up from the underworld where so many artists venture but few truly understand.” – Phil Brucato, NewWitch magazine
What might have happened if Peter Pan’s Wendy turned pirate and succeeded Captain Hook as ship’s captain? How about if Medusa and Rapunzel fell in love with the same hapless prince? What sort of tango do you dance with the alligator in your house? How do you fend off an online stalker who thinks he’s Jesus? What’s all the buzz about the guy with the mandolin who marched on Washington? Performing songwriter SJ Tucker addresses these questions and many others, all in the time it takes to play a show. Critics describe her music as the perfect mix of witty and weighty, and she takes listeners on a fantastic, genre-hopping ride with just her voice, her guitar, and occasionally a drum.

FaerieCon East is excited to welcome New York Times bestselling author Julie Kagawa to our event for the very first time!
Born in Sacramento, California, she moved to Hawaii at the age of nine. There she learned many things: how to body board, that teachers scream when you put centipedes in their desks and that writing stories in math class is a fantastic way to kill time. Her teachers were glad to see her graduate. Julie now lives near Louisville, Kentucky, with her husband and a plethora of pets. She still laughs whenever she sees a centipede.
Kagawa’s best know work to date has been the Iron Fey series, which tells the tale of a half-human teenage girl caught in the middle of a battle for survival when the traditional rivalry of Summer and Winter fey, the Seelie and Unseelie Courts, is challenged by the new, fearsome, Iron fey.
“Faeries, the old, ancient fey, not the glittery winged sprites, have always fascinated me. But I wanted to write a book that was different than other faery books. So I began thinking: what are the fey afraid of? The answer, in most ancient mythos, is iron. Faeries can’t stand the touch of iron and steel. So, what if there was a new type of fey that had evolved with progress over the years? What if they weren’t only immune to iron, their existence was slowly poisoning and corrupting the lands of the traditional fey? And I realized we already have “monsters” in machines: gremlins, bugs, viruses, ect. And from that thought, the Iron fey were born.”

Acclaimed “New Adult” fantasy author D.C. Grace makes her FaerieCon East premiere in 2012, sharing her amazingly inventive worlds that mix Native American and Celtic elements into a landscape of romance and thrilling adventure!
“A warrior knows death is always a hair’s breadth away, but he doesn’t dwell on the possibility of his death when he goes into battle. A warrior just fights. He fights to protect his family, his home, his people, himself, and often, the good of man. The wolf never gives a passing thought to the possibility of his death. For the wolf, he will fight to the end if need be, solely to defend his territory. Neither of these things are necessarily a reason to enter into battle when you are already weakened. They just are what they are. They live in a warrior’s heart, in a wolf’s heart. And both, for me, are in my heart. So there was no question that I would summon the wolf to defend the pack, the remaining Thunderbird, and of equal importance, my soul mate, Angelina. The wolf and the warrior both would lay down their life for her, no questions asked….” ~ D.C. Grace, The Sacred Oath: Book One of The Guardians Series
Angels, werewolves, Bigfoot, giant serpents and witches in the Wisconsin Dells? It’s all part of the imaginative worlds of D.C. Grace, author The Guardians series and the Amethyst Dragon series. Fascinated with all things supernatural since childhood, and wrote her first vampire story at the ripe old age of nine. She is well studied in all aspects of Native American culture, as well as early Pagan and Celtic histories and cultural practices.

Haunting “ghost cellist” Adam Hurst comes to FaerieCon East!
”I saw this in a review: ‘If you aren’t listening to him, you are making a mistake.’ Can we just leave it at that? I think that describes it perfectly.” – Actress Ellen Page, star of “Juno” and “Inception.”
Influenced primarily by Middle Eastern, Indian Raga and European traditions, the original music of Adam Hurst is at once haunting, ethereal, evocative and romantic. Using the cello as a solo melodic voice, Hurst creates passionate and emotive musical poetry that digs straight to the soul.
“Amazing music, sometimes nostalgic, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes dark and scary, as though you’ve touched some incredibly ancient things, feelings, motifs. The music envelops you, gets you into its strange world, deeper and deeper. It seems like the air gets denser and denser, the world comes to a standstill… until the music stops. And only than you breathe again. Absolutely meditative.” -Chlingui Wingui, Tunis, Tunisia
